Double DAB Riding Stable is proud to introduce
its new riding instructor, Heather Eckman.
Heather learned to ride here at Double DAB as a
young child, and she has owned horses her entire
life. She went on to show horses for a number of
years. During that time, she learned from some
of the best trainers and riders in the industry.
She rode under prestigious trainers who trained
for Olympic Gold medalist Phillip Dutton.
Heather competed in many styles of riding
including 3-day Eventing, Show Jumping,
Dressage, Western Pleasure, Hunt Seat Pleasure,
Barrel Racing, Showmanship, Halter, and Trail.
She has a number of AQHA (American Quarter Horse
Association) points and local championships.
Heather graduated from high school in 2004. Afterward,
she attended Nazareth College of Rochester where she
studied mathematics. She graduated in December 2007 with
a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and a New York State
Teaching Certificate for grades 7-12. During her time at
Nazareth, she rode for the equestrian team. While on the
team, she rode several different horses, thereby
enhancing her riding technique even more. She also
earned several point in the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse
Show Association). Shortly after graduation from
Nazareth, Heather attended SUNY Fredonia where she
received her Master’s of Science Degree in Mathematics
Education in August 2009. She now works full-time as a
technology assistant at Westfield Academy Central
School.
